DUNES

The entrance point to the Stockton Sand Dunes is in Anna Bay. The largest moving coastal dunes in the Southern Hemisphere, they are an awe-inspiring sight. Explore them by 4WD, foot or even camel! Sand boarding is hugely popular, particularly given the dunes reach heights of over 30 metres and slopes of up to 60 degrees!

Head to Birubi Point where you’ll find the departure location for 4WD, sand boarding and camel riding tours.

WATER

If you love being on or close to the water then you’re going to love Port Stephens! Swim, surf, snorkel, fish… there’s so much to do.

Picnic tables and BBQ facilities are conveniently located at many locations and with 26 beaches to choose from, there’s always a sheltered spot.

If you’re keen to learn to surf, Port Stephens Surf School is a great starting point. They operate out of One Mile Beach, Birubi Beach and Fingal Bay. Lessons are available for all ages and they offer group or private sessions.

Boats, jet-skis, kayaks and stand-up-paddleboards (SUP’s) are available for hire in Nelson Bay. If you’re staying with us at One Mile Beach House, you’ll find plenty of room to park all your water activity toys!

Tours can be booked for whale/dolphin watching, sunset dinner cruises, fishing charters and scuba diving.

Enjoy magnificent sunrises and sunsets over the water and keep an eye out for whales and dolphins. Thousands of humpback whales migrate through the marine park between May and November, while the area has a resident population of bottlenose dolphins that never fail to impress.

LAND

Port Stephens has over 20km of stunning coastline to explore. Much of it has paths or tracks perfect for walking, running or mountain biking.

Hike to the top of Tomaree Headland for a spectacular view over the area.
